March 25th, 2010Website Design and DevelopmentYour website is the first impression that potential customers have of your company. Therefore, it is vital that the spelling and grammar on your site is up to scratch. With Content Management Systems providing the functionality to update your website at the click of a button it's common to see reputable companies publishing inaccurate content littered with mistakes.Don't fall victim to this trap - always have you content proof read before it gets published to your site. This is particularly important for small business's with little or no brand loyalty, where little details can really make a difference to the overall impression you create.

March 25th, 2010web analyticsIf your using web analytics to improve your site there’s one thing you need to do before you even start looking at the numbers…
Identify areas on your website which don’t contribute towards your site’s goals and try to remove them where possible. These include blank spaces, duplicate content and unnecessary headers. A 1cm margin at the top of your site reduces your content area by 5% on an average size monitor!
Of course you need to balance design and value, but if a space on your site isn’t adding either then get rid of it. This allows you to bring more content above the fold and focus your visitors attention on the things you want them to see. Check out www.tesco.com for an excellent example of how to maximise you website real estate.

2. Study your landing pages. Rank your landing pages by the amount of visitors they recieve and then study key metrics such as bounce rate, page views per session and sesson duration. These can give you some really good clues about how to improve your aquisition strategy.
3. Consider paying for traffic. If you have a good website, with good products then you should consider paying for traffic in order to increase awareness of your website.
